Robert Hall Meets Copacabana

Robert Hall Meets Copacabana

Reminiscent of the Cotton Club or Copacabana, February’s Winter Cabaret dinner transported guests to a surreal atmosphere full of lively entertainment and a delectable, five-course culinary experience.

The evening began with a cocktail reception upstairs in Capone’s Bar. Guests mingled and sipped on handcrafted spirits—including a special take on the Manhattan—until dinner was ready to be served.

After making their way into The Vault, guests were greeted with an amuse bouche of canapés with apricot, blue castello cheese, and pistachios—the first of five courses by Chef Charley Smith. Next to the table was bacon and green pea risotto appetizer topped with pan seared cajun scallops and shaved parmesan and a fruit-forward salad with arugula, parmesan, candied walnuts, and a homemade balsamic vinaigrette.

The evening’s main course stole the show. Guests enjoyed a braised beef short rib prepared with a truffle butter bourbon glaze, topped with a haricot vert and sugar snap pea sauté, and served on a plate of garlic crusted smashed potato.

Finally, the meal ended with notes of citrus, chocolate, and cream as members enjoyed a white chocolate panna cotta with orange chocolate sauce.

In complement with each course, members were served a unique wine pairing from our friends at Golden Roads Vineyards.

  • Amuse Bouche – Mountain Park Sunrise (Riesling and Vidal Blanc Blend)
  • Appetizer – Traminette (Floral White Wine with Notes of All Spice and Citrus)
  • Salad – Mountain Park Sunset – (Rosé with Notes of Red Fruit)
  • Entrée – Petit Verdot – (Dark, Bold, Complex Red Wine with Notes of Stone Fruit)
  • Dessert – Mountain Park Mist – (Sweet Wine Made from Traminette Grapes)

In addition to a fabulous meal and drinks, guests also enjoyed three performances by Red Velvet Burlesque.

“My favorite part of the evening was watching the reactions on people’s faces as the entertainment came down the stairs,” said Robert Hall’s Event Manager, Kristopher Walter. “When you are in downtown Winston-Salem you don’t exactly expect to find a live burlesque show. The performances were very classy and tasteful and it definitely raised some heart rates—everyone had a blast.”
